Rottweiler Information

Rottweiler History

The Rottweiler is known to be the descendent of the Italian Mastiff. The Rottweiler has been used as a herding dog throughout the years. The name Rottweiler comes from where the dog was bred, which was Rottweil, a German town in Wuttemberg. The breed had disappeared for a while in the 1800s but came back around the 20th century. This is due to the efforts of the breeders who admired the breed. The Rottweiler has been a popular breed ever since due to their talents of herding and tracking, but also because they make a wonderful family pet.
